jayne parker (b. 1959) is an artist and filmmaker whose work has been widely shown, both nationally and internationally, in major art institutions, on television and in film and music festivals. her early films, often centred on her own performances to camera, involve an associative and quasi-symbolic approach to framing and montage. more recent works take the performance of music as their primary subject and she has made many works with cellist anton lukoszevieze and pianist katharina wolpe. in 2008 the bfi released a dvd compilation of her film works in their british artists' film series. her films are distributed by lux and she teaches at the slade school of fine art, university college london, where she is head of graduate fine art media. in 2011 she presented a retrospective of her films at the bfi southbank as part of maya deren: 50 years on, a celebration of the american filmmaker's life.
