walther könig's bookstore in cologne is a familiar address for local as well as international bibliophiles. jürgen heiter's essayistic film paints a vivid portrait of this legendary place by plunging us into the middle of its daily goings-on where books are perused, thoughts are unhurriedly exchanged, new discoveries and acquintances made. among the many personalities caught on camera, viewers might recognize such fixtures of the german visual arts scene as the photographers benjamin katz or wolfgang tillmans - and by the film book shelves, we also briefly encounter a certain cologne native familiar to many finnish cinéphiles...

the screening will be preceded by a screening of the single-channel version of biblion (2019) by saara ekström and eero tammi, originally a three-channel video installation from footage filmed at antiquarian bookstores, libraries and other spaces that seem to have become end stations and storages for printed books.
